Commonly known also as a pin tumbler lock or euro profile cylinder, these locks are a mechanism that uses pins of varying length to keep the lock from opening without the proper key. Yale’s range consists of cylinders of all security standards and are easy to install either by a DIYer or a locksmith.  Euro cylinders are commonly fitted to a multipoint lock or sometimes with mortice lock. They are normally used on external front and back doors, it’s important to fit the cylinder correctly, or it will be at risk to lock snapping an other forms of attack.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR CYLINDER LOCK SIZE:

1. Remove the fixing screw which is located on the main door gear just beneath the latch.
2. Put the key in the lock and turn it 25 degrees clockwise or anti-clockwise.
3. The lock should now slide out towards you.
4. Take a ruler or tape measure and measure from the centre of the fixing screw to the outside edge. This is size (A)
5. Now measure from the centre of the fixing hole to the other side of the cylinder. This is size (B)
6. measure size (C), measure the entire length of the lock. This should be equal to (A) and (B) added together.
